The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
