Two Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
